What Causes Pigmentation & Sun Damage?

Uneven skin tone is one of the most common concerns we see at Santé, often showing up as sun spots, patchy discolouration or a dull, uneven complexion that's built up gradually over years.

Pigmentation is generally understood to develop when the skin produces excess melanin in response to triggers like UV exposure, hormonal changes or inflammation. Over time, this can lead to visible sun spots, freckling or patches of discolouration that don't fade on their own.

At Santé, we assess your skin tone, pigmentation type and sun exposure history before recommending a plan. Every treatment approach is tailored to help support a more even-looking, radiant complexion over time.

FAQs

Will my pigmentation come back after treatment?
Pigmentation can be influenced by ongoing sun exposure and other ongoing factors, which is why daily SPF and a maintenance plan are usually recommended alongside treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the depth and type of pigmentation. Most clients undertake a course of treatments spaced several weeks apart as part of their plan.
Is this treatment suitable for all skin tones?
We assess every client's skin individually during consultation, as pigmentation and sun damage can present differently across skin tones.
Do I need to avoid the sun after treatment?
Yes, diligent sun protection is important after treatment to help support your results and protect your skin while it settles.
