What is Laser Genesis?

Laser Genesis is a non-ablative laser treatment that uses a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser to warm the skin beneath its surface. It does not remove the outer layer of skin, so it works differently from resurfacing treatments.

The treatment focuses on skin quality, including the look of uneven texture, diffuse redness, fine lines and enlarged-looking pores. It can be used across a range of skin types, with suitability assessed at your consultation.

At Santé, we believe in fewer treatments and greater care. Laser Genesis is generally recommended as a course of treatments, either on its own or alongside a clinical peel or facial. Every plan begins with a consultation with one of our Registered Nurses.

Skin commonly looks flushed and feels warm for a few hours after treatment. As with any laser treatment, there are risks, and recovery varies from person to person. Your nurse will discuss these with you before treatment.

The Science

How Laser Genesis Works

Laser Genesis uses controlled laser energy to warm the skin beneath the surface, working with the skin's own renewal processes over a course of treatments.

  1. Non-ablative laser energy

    A 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser delivers rapid micro-pulses of energy as it is passed over the skin. The surface of the skin is not removed or broken.

  2. Controlled warming

    The energy gradually warms the upper dermis, the layer of skin beneath the surface where collagen is found.

  3. Collagen and vessel response

    Research suggests this warming may support collagen remodelling. The laser is also designed to target small blood vessels associated with visible redness.

  4. Gradual change

    Changes build gradually over a course of treatments rather than after a single session. Results vary between individuals.

Suitability is assessed at consultation. Laser Genesis can be used across a range of skin types, but it is not suitable for everyone. Concerns such as pigmentation, broken capillaries or deeper scarring may respond better to another treatment, or a combination. Our nurses will recommend the approach that suits your skin.
